It is our responsibility to protect the future of our children. This was the main aspect to develop natural fibre products. Since a couple of years we have filed German, European and PCT patents.
Natural fibres are wood fibres, soft- and hardwood, rice and coconut shells, straw and all other organic natural fibres. Those fibres are hydrophilic. That means wood that derives directly from the wood has a moisture content from twelve to 18 percent, sawdust from the furniture industry has a moisture content from six to eight percent. Humidity is always to the disadvantage of the extrusion of plastic material. That means that natural fibres have always to be dried or the humidity has to be expensively compensated with chemical means. Only when the natural fibre is completely dry it is possible to reach a good adhesion between the plastics and the natural fibres as well as an enduring strength.

Additionally, it is important that the natural fibre particles are uniformly distributed and homogeneously mixed with the plastic matrix. Are those requests accomplished the final product will be of a high quality, high strength and will have a good water resistance (e.g. after storage in water).

This is an economical way of the extrusion of natural fibres.

Natural fibres can be employed in composition with rigid and non-rigid PVC recipes, with ABS, SAN, polystyrene derivatives, LDPE, HDPE, polypropylenes, co-polymers, PC or a large variety of other thermoplastics.

NFPower 26-1 and NFPower 33-2


The technology was the first and the second level of development for wood fibre extrusion and is mainly employed in the USA and oftener in Europe and Asia in a direct competition with conic extruders.
A predrying of the natural fibre has to take place and in a second step the fibre is mixed with the plastics and extruded by a modified counterrotating twin screw. The disadvantage of that process is the expensive predrying. Often it happens that predried material assimilates again humidity from the air before being extruded. The ap extrusion company developed the NFPower 26 with one degasification and the NFPower 33 with two degasifications for that process.
The extruder is a standard tube extruder with an L/D ratio of 26 or 33. The particularities are the second degasification in the 33 version, special vacuum pumps, an especial screw geometry and a particular barrel heating.

The ap extrusion company offers the NFPower 26-1 and 33-2 in three sizes:

  • NFPower 75-26-1 and NFPower 75-33-2 for an output from 100 to 200 kg/h
  • NFPower 94-26-1 and NFPower 94-33-2 for an output from 200 to 400 kg/h
  • NFPower 115-26-1 and NFPower 115-33-2 for an output from 350 to 600 kg/h

Due to the issue of predrying the ap extrusion company has developed the NFPower 40-6. Several world-wide patents were filed for it. That system works without predrying. The barrel has a L/D ratio of 40 with six degasifications. Two of those degasifications are connected with a special vacuum pump. The other four degasifications are connected with special humidity pumps. Those four degasifications are constructed on special cyclone burner and a particular filter system. The NFPower 40-6 can process wood fibre with a moisture content from six to eight percent with predrying it.
The advantage of this system is that with low energy costs natural fibre products of a very high quality can be produced. It is possible to use that system with plastics combined with natural fibres and additives that are constantly mixed by a Crammer feeder developed by ap extrusion company. Thus, a large variety of plastics and fibre qualities as well as a multitude of different percentages can be processed.

The ap extrusion company offers the NFPower 40 in four sizes:

  • NFPower 75-40-6 for an output from 120 to 275 kg/h
  • NFPower 94-40-6 for an output from 230 to 530 kg/h
  • NFPower 115-40-6 for an output from 400 to 920 kg/h
  • NFPower 135-40-6 for an output from 650 to 1500 kg/h
